This week on Project Run and Play the theme was retro/vintage! I was so excited about this topic, then had a bit of a struggle, as discussed here ha! But thanks to all your comments I remember this is meant to be fun and a chance to be inspired! I decided to go with a project I had been wanting to do for a while, a vintage inspired romper. I love the halter romper from Wovenplay but didn't want it so bootie short :).
When I went for fabric at the local fabric store I found the gingham in so many colors I had to make several and thankfully some of Evie's friends were willing to be my models!
They were so much fun to photography and were just adorable!
I wanted a solid splash of color around their wastes so I made solid color belts to tie around the elastic waist (all about comfort when cuties are involved) :)
I made the fabric flowers that can be worn on the belt, or if they don't want a belt on the halter strap or in their hair :)
I made the girlies little headkerchiefs but forgot that Zahra is in fact tiny, super tiny so everything was a bit big on her cute little frame.
When I told the girls to take a break they were so cute and stood around talking about their boots
My wonderful friend sent the boots from Jakarta and thank heavens Zahra's feet were tiny enough to fit in the green ones
There was some adorable orange gingham but I couldn't find any boots that would go with it. But I had to throw some orange in there somehow.
I knew it would be raining and I while doing my research I read THIS article that talked about lined princess coats for them to wear.
Evie refused to wear her's, I mean threw a positive fit when I tried to keep it on her ha! I love how the colors look together. Which is why I am giving them away as a set!!! If you would like to be entered to win all you need to do is leave a comment! (if you don't want them but still want to leave a comment, I would love still love it) If you would like to make your own the pattern for size 4/5 is available HERE and the 6-12 month size is available HERE. I will be doing tutorial for the rompers on "Make It Monday". Now, if you have a moment and wouldn't mind hoping over to Project Run and Play to vote I would LOVE it! My fingers are crossed that I make it through because I have the best idea for next week :) Thanks for all you support!

ReplyDeleteOh man. I am a very beginning sewer so frankly, it would be much better if I just won these. They are SO SO CUTE!! I LOVE that you made them longer. So adorable I can't hardly stand it! I have three little girls all very close (in age and size) and who knows if the next will be a girl too? We could keep these in the family....
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
Love them, so adorable! You can tell the girls loved them, too.
ReplyDeletereggity at sbcglobal dot net
Those are so cute! I definitely want to be entered in the drawing. I haven't made anything for my daughter yet, but I'm going to look closely at this pattern and your tutorial. What a cute summer outfit!

ReplyDeleteJLynn1347@gmail.com
I love the boots and the bright colors. The world needs more gingham. It always makes me think of simpler times.
ReplyDeleteTo thine own self be true. Old advice, but still sound. You make such lovely things. Even if you don't win, you've still won by making things you feel good about and that work for you and your sweet little ones (be they yours or borrowed ;) ).
Shine on!
I swear you can do no wrong haha. I would love to win one!
ReplyDeleteamo72 at ymail dot com
gingham screams spring (and puddles)such a cute romper, I'll be looking for the tutorial Monday!
ReplyDeleteSo creative!

I absolutely LOVE this! Everything about it - the gingham, the rompers, the belts, the colors, the rainboots. Seriously adorable! CANNOT wait for the pattern. Would love to win a little set. I can't believe you were stressed over this one...but everything I've seen you do is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteThey're all too cute! THe set is amazing. You definitely went the extra mile.
ReplyDeleteKelly, You rock! These are my absolute favorite this week! Everyone did a great job, but this was the most "current" interpretation of a retro look. I love how they turned out and how comfy those kids look. As always your pictures are stunning! Great job! I was happy to vote for you this week :)
ReplyDeleteJust leaving a comment, no entry please :) The rompers are adorable! I love seeing your creativity with limited resources! I voted for you!!
ReplyDeleteI love your style! I would love to win this set. You are seriously so talented. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI love these rompers! Especially the blue one. If I don't win, I'm definitely going to try to make one. I voted for you at Project Run and Play too!
ReplyDeleteI think these are darling...I wish I had a girl every age to go with them!
ReplyDeleteADORABLE! I would love to win the set!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to doubt yourself! These are soooo cute! I think they best fit the objective too. They aren't too costumey so the little ones can still "run and play"
ReplyDeleteI love them! I would love to win them! And if not, I'm sure I'll be making a bunch. I can see this being a summer staple in my house and the pattern is the perfect size! Thanks! Oh, and I totally voted for you. I know that's not a stipulation for the giveaway, but I think you did a great job.
ReplyDeleteThese are sooo adorable!! I love them all!! and I probably have a girl for each one..ha!
ReplyDeleteKelly these are AMAZING! I am so glad you didn't change your mind and try to do something that was not you. Your style is perfect. Now hopefully I can have a baby girl this next time around so I have someone to make such cute rompers for :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look you have created. Looking forward to the pattern and tutorial. Thanks
ReplyDeleteLove the rompers with the rain boots. So cute and cheery.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with the romper! I have plans to make one but my sewing machine finally kicked the bucket, so it would be super handy if I won :)
ReplyDeleteThose turned out absolutely adorable! Love them. Can't wait for a pattern/tutorial. I have a couple of girlies that would look adorable in them this summer.
ReplyDeleteI love the rompers and the ponchos! Waiting for the tutorials! Now, to find some more gingham (I just picked up a small piece fromt the thrift store). I hope you win!
ReplyDeleteThose girls look adorable! Super cute rompers! Would look great on my little monkey this summer. Love those boots too!
ReplyDeletekristiannasharma AT yahoo.com
seems to me that the rompers were a too toddler-y, because those older girls look under-dressed to me, without their ponchos. i know its just my perspective and all, but i wanted to comment. I love what you've done with the gingham and solids, and love the little models and their sass, but the clothes themselves look better on your littlest model and i think thats because they are a little big on her(=fits better).
ReplyDeleteAdorable.
ReplyDeleteI love these rompers! So adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove...as always...:) VOTE? Check. Leave comment? Check....You're super mom!!! Can't wait to see what you have in store for next week!
ReplyDeleteSO ADORABLE. Love, love them...the gingham is too cute. I love that you share the patterns, too (thanks for that)!
ReplyDeleteOh I WANT them, i REALLY want them! There are 4 little girls on my side of the family and I have been DYING to find cute little matching (but not too matchy matchy) outfits for them all to wear out together! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE God of BLogs let me win!
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with this! On my way to Project Run and Play now!
<3
These are soo adorable!!!! I love them so much I just had to leave a comment. Not to win just to say they are too stinkin cute!!! Usually I am turned off by bareback outfits but you've got my vote!!! Oh yeah, I might be missing something but I couldn't find the link to the princess capes?!?! I thought it was on the word THIS but nothing was happening??? Good luck and I am off to vote for the retro rainbow!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for your tutorial on Monday! I've already downloaded the pattern. This romper is going to be perfect for my little girl this summer!
ReplyDeleteWoW, these are gorgeous, exactly what i was thinking about making for my baby girl, and youv'e done all the work for me, fabbo, downloaded the patterns already and hanging out for Monday....I went and voted for you, must say tough competition this week, all were so amazing!!

You did such a great job. These girls look adorable. I love all the extra touches.
ReplyDeleteI've just voted and although some of the other entries are nice I think yours ROCK as they are sooo cute, colorful and any little girl would love them. My 2 girls aged two and one both love them particularly the yellow set and the black set. Looking forward to the tutorial as these would be one of a kind. I'd also love to min one of these sets.

ReplyDeletealiben7@gmail.com
You are going to keep one for Evie, right? I don't mind at all to take the rest off your hands as I have some cute little princesses over here who would look so stinking cute in them.

Oh my! These are just darling! I'd love to win!
ReplyDeleteI love the look, and would love to win too.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the tutorial. Do you have any idea who makes the blue gingham? I have been having trouble finding royal blue gingham.
As always, you are amazing!! I wish I had some of your talent! :) I understand about the simple/classic look, that is me all the way! I really do think you are so great!!! And I am amazed that you made MULTIPLES of your submission! You are much more motivated than I am! :)

I am going to read back (when I have the time!) to see what you have made with those precious 15 yards, or at least the 8 odd that you have used. Such a rewarding yourng life your kids will have moving around the world, I would love to do the same thing, but taking 4 is a logistical nightmare! Hello Kelly, These are the prettiest rompers I have ever seen! Today as soon as the shops are open (21 minutes to 9:00 am CET:)) I will go to the closost fabrics store and buy the textiles to try one for my 2 year-old. There are still months until summer (we have to sleep 91 times until 1st June not counting the afternoon naps with my daughter) but as I'm quite a beginner at sewing I think I will need this time to finish. Though I would be most happy to win one too... :))) Please keep creating all these wonderful clothes. Good luck and all the best! Ps. I'm Anita not Eugenia...
ReplyDeletei love your blog, thanks share the patterms
