Well, every Thursdays I make oversized cupcakes for our Community Liason Officer to sell to Embassy employees to try and raise money to fix the roof on the orphanage I am always referring too. I usually take a picture of them and we email it out as advertising right before I bring them. This week I wanted a cute cloth napkin to fold under the cupcake but own none. Here is where the Burberry comes in :) I used both sides and some vintage balinese lace I bought last time I was there and taddah! Cute little serving napkin:
This totally set me off making more of these little serving napkins (tutorial to come). Now for the giveaway. Instead of a weekend project I thought every now and then it would be fun to send a little bit of Timor to readers. Just a little something I love from here. This week it is a set of Six of the Burberry napkins (keep in mind these are edged in super vintage lace so if you don't like things looking a little rustic then this probably isn't something you would like, I just don't want someone to win and be super disappointed and curse me all over the bloggosphere) and with it 50 of my favorite cupcake liners made right here in Timor
What is great about these is you can just line them up on a cookie sheet and cooke a TON of cupcakes all at once! They do turn a little dark after baking but I think they are so cute. Okay so I am not good at being all tricky or fancy so all you have to do to enter is leave a comment, um maybe your fav tutorial so far? Or something you would like to see done in the future? Whatever you would like really. It will stay open until Monday morning my time so I believe Sunday night for most of the reading world. Hope this isn't a super lame giveaway, but hey it's my first ever it's okay to be lame when you are new right? Ha!
Cheers
Kelly
I have enjoyed reading! My favorite tute so far is the rain boot embellishments. Thanks for blogging!
ReplyDeleteThose napkins are so cute! My favorite tutorial so far has been the beach picnic dress, now I just need to work up the courage to try it!
ReplyDeleteI like anything for boys, having two of my own and all. The napkins are super cute, and would be the only Burberry thing I own as well!
ReplyDeleteI wish wish wish I could go into a store, root around and find a bolt of fabric like that. I'm moving to Timor.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite so far...that's tough because I love them all so far, but I'm going with the toddler cowl neck sweatshirt.
I love all your tutorials for boys! It's hard to come up with something cute for a little boy other than cool pants and appliques :) The newsboy hat is my fave!
ReplyDeleteI adore your blog. I don't have kids yet, but when I do I will certainly be making many of the things on your blog. Particularly the little girl headband (if I have a girl of course haha).
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty little napkins! I don't think I could pick a favorite tutorial because all of the clothes are so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for a couple weeks, though this is my first comment. I just want to say that I've saved several of your inspiring projects. I especially love the little girl ones, since I have two daughters. Thanks!

I have a 2 year old daughter that I love to sew for and I'm having so much fun with all of your tutorials. I dont have a favorite yet, too hard to pick just one. I've got another little bun in the oven and I'm excited to finally see cute boy things on blogs too! It's about time! Thank you!!!!! I hope I win the giveaway so I can add cupcakes to the bun! heehee

Hi Kelly I have been following you for a week or so ,old and short memory. I am a quilter and I have lots of fabric and I wonder if there is anything special you would like. I live in Canada and my family are all adults but I do have two little grandsons, and I like the things you do for little boys. Where is Timor, and where do I send your fabric. I find your blog so sweet and I would love to know you. My e-mail is Davidson.sandra0@gmail.com after Sandra that is a zero not an o.God Bless
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tutorial is the shabby evie dress! I love sassy little dresses for girls!!
ReplyDeleteps-loving the napkins ;)
I guess my fav tutorial is your sundress. Your kid stuff is pretty adorable too. I just love your story of having to be creative with your available resources unlike me who buys fabric cause I love it and then I throw it in a closet cause I don't know what to do with it LOL. I hope you will tell us more about Timor and the Orphanage and it's needs in your coming posts. you never know there might be ways your readers could help. Thanks for sharing! i love following your blog! you are very inspiring to this beginner sewer (is that a word?). i totally want to try all your tutorials because i have a toddler boy and a baby girl on the way but my fave so far is the boy sweatshirt with the crowl neck. looking forward to more posts!
ReplyDeleteLove your projects, I've been spreading the word here in Utah.
ReplyDeleteI have two little boys and I can never find any fun things to make for them. So, I love anything you post that has to do with making things for boys. Keep it up! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness gracious Kelly these are adorable. Totally not lame at all. So far my favorite post is Shabby Evie dress. I've got 2 little girls and I love me some Shabby Apple! But I do read EVERY post and love when I sign on in the morning to a new post from you! Seriously I can't believe you found REAL burberry fabric that is one amazing find! Can't wait to see more girly projects!
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs, Jess
Well, since I've loved everything you've posted I have no idea which one to pick. But I guess I'll go with the beach cover-up because as soon as I can get to a fabric store I'm going to give it a whirl. Loving your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love these napkins (and the cupcakes look yummy too!)! I am new to sewing and love the post on making the 4th of July (or anytime) shirt. I have a 7 month old daughter and began sewing so that I can make cute things for her. I am so happy I found your blog...you have a neat story and share some of the same interests as I.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great first giveaway! #1 is expresses a little of you and where you are in your life. Giveaways are always better when it's got a little of the gifters personality in them. #2 It's an awesome find (the burberry fabric) turned into something really beautiful. #3 Cupcakes are my go to baked goods. I tell everyone that I couldnt make a cake so save my life, but my cupcakes will make you think you died and went to heaven! Great Giveaway, and awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteLove the napkins and the cupcake holders are adorable, much cuter than plain, boring white baking cups. I've really enjoyed reading your blog and hearing more about Timor (had to google it, I had no idea where it was). I would like to see more pictures of Timor, it looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI just love what you are doing. I would find it very difficult to leave my fabric stash behind for very long. You are very creative and I love your ideas. I don't have young kids, but the napkin idea is great. I have lots of fat quarters and things and I love to throw in color to my table any time I can.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your vest/newsboy hat tutorial! I LOVE all your tutorials... I'm amazed by you! I would so love to win this cute giveaway:)
ReplyDeletePLEASE! Not lame at all. Super cool. If I were a gazillionaire Burberry would be my luxury design house of choice. So having Burberry napkins rock!! I love the little bloomer shorts tutorial you made for your girl. I want to make them for myself if summer ever arrives again in NZ! Cheers, HeatherB.
ReplyDeleteoh my oh my oh my drooly giddiness. I'm falling all over myself in lust for those napkins!
ReplyDeletethe tuxedo dress is delightful, though I fear I'm not yet up to the task, what with my novice and ever so elementary sewing skills at this point. which is why, I'd assume, I've not been smiled upon by the fabric fairies with such a glorious find.
I have to say I think it is the bow tie tutorial. But That is because I am partial to Dr Who and the current Dr. says "Bow Ties are Cool."
ReplyDeleteI love the cupcake liners, I have never seen ones like that outside of a cooking catalogue.
The beach dress that was your last tutorial is my favorite! Once I finish the dress I'm working on now, that will hopefully be next! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat first giveaway! :)

ReplyDeleteCheers to just a great blog!!!
p.s. it's not a lame give away at all!
Good luck on the give away. I smock and tried to do a smocked dress giveaway on my sisters blog and only had two entries, by the same person! I love your kids outfits. Almost makes me wish I had a boy!
ReplyDelete33 comments!!! You've got to be feeling the love!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Plaid is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm in! So cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! My favorite tutorial...hmmm...probably the July Forth Top. I also like the tie pattern but after trying it your way I had to change it up a bit to work for me. Although I'm not using your exact pattern I'm thankful for the inspiration to make my own :)
ReplyDeleteOMG the napkins are too cute for words! I think my girlfriends and I need these for our "our kids are driving us nuts so we are eating chocolate" dates!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great ideas. Keep 'em coming, I'm reading!
Kelly, your creations are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your posts and looking at your creations. Great job! The napkins and cupcake holders are both adorable.
Your blog is so inspiring! Thank you! I just printed out the lil birdie template to put on a shirt for my two year old! I also loved the sweatshirt tutorial!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tutorial so far was the 4th of July shirt, although I must say that I made one for my daughter and it was terrible...it looked like a life jacket. :) I still had her wear it to church though...so it worked well enough!!! I have never claimed to be good at sewing...but I like to try!! Thanks for the tutorials!!
ReplyDeletei loved the little boys hat tutorial..can't wait to make one for my little boy..i would love to see more boys clothing tutorials.
